Jen & Kevin’s Ravel Hotel Wedding
Ravel Hotel Wedding
Jen and Kevin have been all over the map lately. Originally from California and now stationed in Connecticut due to Kevin serving in the Navy, this awesome couple decided to hop on over to New York for a grand Long Island wedding.
I met them at the Ravel Hotel where I focused on Jen’s preparations. I had fun catching her reflection in the same window as an iconic NYC bridge and photographing her favorite wedding details (she loved her gown’s wedding buttons). I spent some time with Kevin, too. He and his groomsmen donned dark pink ties and socks which matched the bridesmaids’ dresses!
The late afternoon ceremony took place at Penthouse 808 where the views were incredible from the swanky rooftop venue! Jen was escorted down the aisle by her mom and brother, and then her mom did a reading for her daughter and son-in-law. Their dear friend, Corey, officiated the ceremony and made it a wonderfully personal experience. You’ll have to note the children in the wedding party who were given lollipops as ingenious distractors! They were the most well behaved, adorable kids. Kudos to whoever came up with that idea!
To get the full New York experience on their wedding day, they broke from the festivities and hailed a classic NYC taxi cab which provided us with the perfect photojournalistic wedding photography experience. It was a quick photo whirlwind and then we headed back to the Penthouse 808 wedding reception.
We arrived right at the end of the cocktail hour and the newlyweds found their place on the dance floor for their first dance. Again, the view was amazing and gave their reception such a vibe of “urban romance”. As the sun began to set the sky filled with a pink so perfectly matched to their wedding colors that we were all in awe of the serendipity of the moment.
Kevin and Jen touched on all the traditional reception elements from the bouquet toss to the garter belt removal. Their cake was a little masterpiece made by Baked NYC, complete with “Mr. & Mrs.” wedding topper bunting. The rest of the night was spent toasting with flutes of champagne and dancing on top of the world!
Congratulations, Jen and Kevin!
