NYC Engagement Shoot – Megan & Steve
Almost every NYC engagement shoot starts out with the sun bright and shining overhead, so it’s a nice change to sometimes bring the camera out in the evening when the colors are a bit muted and the air has a different energy to it.
Megan and Steve met with me on a Saturday evening and we strolled along the Brooklyn Promenade, complete with interested onlookers who probably felt as though they had front row seats to a real live romantic comedy! All of the attention made Megan feel a little uneasy in front of the camera, so Steve made it his mission to lighten the mood with a few jokes. He even helped break the shots down by whispering little directives to his fiancé, such as when to turn around and look at the camera. It was very sweet to see this man being unconditionally attentive to her needs without her having to say a word.
I took some of the shots from afar to give the couple some “privacy”. I decided that it would help take the pressure off of them while allowing them to create their own special moments. I especially love the photo of Megan and Steve sitting on the wall, deep in conversation. We eventually ended the engagement portrait session in the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Steve and Megan are definitely one of those couples who you see and you just know that they’re meant to be together in this great adventure called life. They will be getting married later this summer on Staten Island and I can’t wait to see them on their wedding day!
