NYC Destination Wedding – Eva & Panagiotis
I love traveling to shoot destination weddings in other locations, and I get a kick out of photographing locally when out of area couples choose to come here for a NYC destination wedding. What I so rarely see, though, is a spur of the moment destination elopement in New York City!
Eva and Panagiotis contacted me just days before they came to New York to elope. They’re from Athens, Greece, and chose to be adventurous in their nuptials! Their lives have been so hectic back home that it seemed less stressful to wed in another country where they could keep the ceremony small and personal. They called upon a dear friend from Massachusetts to meet them at the NYC Marriage Bureau and act as their witness. After an hour of waiting for their turn, they were officially husband and wife within five minutes!
Eva and Panagiotis were so excited to be in the heart of NYC. We took the subway train for their Central Park wedding portraits, and of course snapped photos while in motion on our way to the park. Eva’s wedding dress was a short, white cocktail-style dress with a long train. As Panagiotis stood next to his new bride, they photographed as a very fun and modern couple.
This just so happened to be a rainy day but it didn’t seem to faze our bride and groom in the least. They brought along a pair of umbrellas from their hotel and continued to smile from ear to ear. I especially love the light grey misting effect that the weather brought to the photos.
As I look through this series of wedding photos, I’m struck by how high fashion this couple appears. If I didn’t know better, I’d think that their Central Park portraits were part of an editorial spread in Vogue Italia. As a NYC wedding photographer, it was very exciting to work with such a beautiful and easy-going couple!
Eva and Panagiotis, thank you so much for including me in your special day! Congratulations to the pair of you.
