Catskill Wedding Photography – Adrian & Lee’s Slideshow
Catskill Wedding Photography
If ever there was a joyous occasion, it was Adrian and Lee’s wedding day! I had a bit of fun teasing you with their sneak peek last month, and now I have the pleasure of revealing all of the wonderful details of their incredible day. Same sex wedding photography has been so enjoyable to me as a photographer because the couples that I’ve worked with have a special air of glee in their smiles. I can’t tell you why exactly, but I can show you in photographs such as these.
Allow me to preempt this story with this piece of background information: Lee and Adrian have a great love for the Catskills area, so much so that they are actually building their very own home up in the Catskill Mountains. Since the area is so near and dear to them, they chose to have their wedding and reception at the mind-bendingly elegant A Private Estate – an amazing place for Catskill wedding photography!
The grounds at a Private Estate sprawled for half a mile right on the Hudson River, offering breathtaking views of nature at its very best. The day was beautiful and the light was slightly surreal! As guests began to arrive, they couldn’t help but mill about and take in the scenic pleasures before the ceremony. Everyone was in a notably cheery mood!
Each groom showcased his own unique sense of style in the colors chosen for their suits (one donned blue while the other wore purple!), but they both matched by choosing bow ties rather than neckties – a trend which I fully endorse! The grooms were each walked down the grassy aisle by their proud parents and were married by officiant Robert Berson (he, might I add, wore a low-key necktie which offered contrast to the dapper men standing before him!). The ceremony was very touching and full of life. The personal vows were spoken in front of a backdrop of White Oak trees and the estate’s Iris-laced pond, and Adrian and Lee were serenaded by several loved ones. After they exchanged rings, the aisle became a frenzy of congratulatory handshakes and pats on the back.
We walked toward the Hudson River for a few wedding portraits. The men were so enamored with the view of the river that I was soon forgotten and was able to capture some incredibly touching intimate shots. These included micro moments filled with hugging and handholding with wistful faraway stares before Adrian and Lee remembered that they had guests to attend to. That being said, the guests were doing quite well on their own as they, too, roamed the sprawling grounds and snapped their own photos with cell phones!
The tented reception was in a class of its own thanks to some very thoughtful regional detailing. The table arrangements were incredible with crystal glasses, burlap table runners, Birch Tree candles and locally grown floral centerpieces – even the place cards were weighed down with Catskills rocks, and each table was named after a Catskills town! The aesthetic was crisp and classic. Bridgecreek Caterers took special care to use local food from the farmer’s market, as well as wine from Catskills vineyards.
The rest of the afternoon and evening were spent mingling with cocktails in hand, toasting the newlyweds, nibbling on tasty cake, watching children swing from the great Oaks, dancing to the tunes of The A Band and sharing infectious smiles.
This was definitely a day of Catskills wedding photography, and I loved every second of it! Thank you, Adrian and Lee, for allowing me to spend the day in such great company. I wish you both the very best in life – congratulations!
