Wedding Photography at St Peter of Alcantara – Port Washington, NY
Liz and Rich, the wonderful couple who came to me through a referral from Georgia and Socrates, were married recently in a beautifully traditional Roman Catholic wedding ceremony. I had such a great time shooting their Central Park engagement portraits (not to mention the fact that I already like their friends) that I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for months!
Both Rich and Liz wanted their pre-ceremony preparations to be documented so I met them and their wedding party at the Long Island Marriott early in the day. As you can see from the slideshow, this is a very jubilant group of people! The vibe was upbeat right from the get go. Liz’s strapless Paloma Blanca wedding gown was perfect for her and she looked like a starlet as she left for the church.
The wedding ceremony at St. Peter of Alcantara began with Liz’s proud father walking her down the aisle with a massive smile spread across his face. He gave her away and then she spent the next hour entering into a lifetime of happiness with her handsome groom. This was a beautiful church to photograph with its ornate fresco depicted high above the altar and lampwork sconces lining the walls.
After the “I do’s” were spoken, Liz and Rich left the church to take their wedding portraits. My camera snapped as their champagne bottles popped, and before we knew it the entire wedding party was on the scene creating lasting memories. Every little thing that this group did was magic! I made sure to get one last shot of Rich’s orange socks and Liz’s coral bouquet, and then it was time to party at the Harbor Links Golf Course wedding reception.
Theirs was a romantic reception paired with an outdoor cocktail hour, tented and beautifully lit for a night of toasting. They began the night with “I Will” by The Beatles and continued to dance by the music of a brass band, Skyline Orchestras. The guests were hilarious and made this one of the most enjoyable weddings to photograph! Cake and frivolity monopolized the party and then it was time for the newlyweds to set off for their happily ever after.
Congratulations, Liz and Rich!
