Wedding Photography Contest 2010: 30 Days To Go

There are only 30 days left to enter Weddings by Chris Leary Photography’s 2010 free wedding photography giveaway. Entry form and contest details are located on my website at: http://www.chrislearyweddings.com/contest/ or on this blog at: http://chrislearyweddings.com/blog/?p=832

Here is another wonderful submission:

Simplicity

A kiss on the check, a walk hand in hand, the sunset, a cup of coffee… Simplicity

A smile, praying together, the windows down and the radio on…Simplicity

Laughter, a slow dance, flowers, and the words “I Love You,”…Simplicity

Happiness, joy, peace, and love… Do they not all stem from the simplest of moments?
When Scott and I met 4 years ago, this was a truth we were about to discover.

Our love story is not filled with elaborate gifts of jewelry, expensive dinner dates, or
any romantic get a ways. Instead, our story is perfect proof that there is truth to be
found in the popular quote, “money can’t by happiness.”

When we met, this simplistic quote immediately manifested; the homemade gifts,
picnics of college cafeteria food, long walks, camp fires, and the ability to feel your
heart leap from a simple conversation that was followed by a warm hug.

Simplicity leads to truth…and it wasn’t long until we both knew we were supposed
to be. Four years later, the money was saved, and a beautiful, simple, breathtaking
ring, was placed on my finger.

We want our wedding to represent what we stand for, our story, the way we plan to
live our lives. So, surrounded by our closest family and friends, and a backdrop of
God created elegances, we will say our vows on a pier and then sail into the sunset….
Beauty is natural, God is good, family is forever, and simplicity is the origin of
happiness.

In 50 wonderful years from now, when Scott and I look back on our wedding day,
we want to be able to feel all of that still.

We want the wind swept pier to remind us to take a deep breath. We want the
smiles to let us hear the laughter and joy of that day. We hope that the shine of the
water, the green of the grass, and the blue of the sky, will explain that beauty is all
around. And we pray that the colors of the sunset will remind us that life is
fleeting…and to live and love, like never before.

In 50 years, when all we have our pictures, we want them to say all of that. We want
them to saturate our hearts with love and our world with peace.

A timeless, perfect, picture is art that captures emotion; and in the simplest way tells
a story.

Scott and I would love to have our story told.

Thank you,

Amanda and Scott

Wedding Photography Contest 2010: New Contest Deadline

Contest update – effective immediately

Due to an overwhelming response to this year’s contest, the deadline for entries has been extended to February 28, 2010, and the winner will now be announced on March 7, 2010.

In addition, all participants of the contest who do not win, will now be eligible to receive 15% off any standard wedding photography package or 50% off a portrait session.

Why did you change the dates? The contest entries received so far, have been simply amazing! I want to give everyone a chance to have their voice heard. Since there has been an overwhelming response, I decided to extend the deadline in order to give everyone an opportunity to participate in this unique contest, plus I’ve added a new judge.

A new judge! The final winner will not be chosen at random, and the deciding process is one of the most difficult parts of this contest. So, I have now enlisted the help of last year’s contest winner, Shaquia Sessoms, to be a judge with me for this year’s contest.

Shaquia is very excited to help pick this year’s winner. In fact when I asked for her help, she said that by me asking, she felt like she just won again. I also asked Shaquia to share her experience about her winning last year’s contest – here is what she had to say:

What was the experience like by participating in the contest?

Entering the contest was a great experience and scary at the same time. I entered not knowing how many others did as well – that in itself can really make you nervous, because you wonder about the odds of winning.  But I would ask myself – what if I won? How awesome would that be? What if I had a photographer come and take hundreds of pictures on my wedding day and I didn’t have to worry about a thing? I thought that not only would winning be such a blessing, it would also become one of many special things about my wedding that I could look back on.

Would you do something like this again?

Since this contest, I have entered everything. I used to feel that people could not win things or that there was always a catch. This contest proved me wrong. Its amazing to me that you have people like Chris Leary wanting to help others out and to give back where they can.

What was the best part about winning?

My husband and I did not have to stress out about the photography. We were able to concentrate on other things and had one less thing to stress about. Chris made the entire process so easy!  Almost too easy … it was like, you two won – I’ll see you on the 24th. I still can’t believe I won!

How did you feel when you won?

I was so excited!  I prayed about winning.  I waited hours the day I knew the winner would be announced and constantly opened my email. When I finally saw an email from Chris Leary my heart dropped. My husband did not believe me until we actually got the contract from Chris Leary that stated that he was providing our wedding photography.

What would you say to other couples considering entering the contest?

Enter! Chris is a great photographer, just take a look at his work.  This contest is more than just winning photography, its also about Chris Leary- he is also so nice! I think that Chris’ wanting to help brides out, is truly a blessing. His personality is great!  He was so nice the day of the wedding and everyone simply loved him. After the wedding, I received some teaser photos online and a disc with all my pictures as promised. Chris never asked or wanted anything else from us in return. This was a blessing.. a true blessing!

How did this make a difference to your wedding plans?

Winning a day of photography definitely helped us with our wedding budget. Sometimes I look back and ask myself how would we have paid for the photography if we had’t won. I still haven’t  come up with an answer to that question. Winning took a load off our shoulders and helped us afford the wedding of my dreams!

Wedding Photography Contest 2010: Free Wedding Photography

It hasn’t been quite a week yet, since I launched my 2010 Wedding Photography Giveaway Contest, and the entries are pouring in!

It’s truly exciting reading what couples across the United States are sharing with me – their dreams, their passion, and their hope.

Keep the entries coming – I look forward to reading them all!

Jackie wrote:

Dear Chris,

As I start to write this essay on why we should win the photography giveaway, a few things come to
mind: My fiancé, the reason for our wedding, our celebration, our beginning, and all the things that
bring family together. We looked through your work, and absolutely love it. We love the action, the
elegance, and the story in each photo.

My fiancé and I met four years ago, and from the first time we kissed we knew we were meant to be.
Both of us young, me just starting college, I knew I would be with him for the rest of my life. People ask
if I believe in love at first sight… well no, I don’t. Because it is not the physical attraction that brings
people together, it’s their energy. From across a room upon first meeting, I do not believe one can spot
their true love. But once you truly let your energy flow into one another, you find a connection that
goes deeper than anyone can imagine.

For us, our wedding isn’t about us getting married. It is not about the cake or the dress or the designer
shoes. Our wedding is about bringing our family together for a celebration. It is a celebration of love,
dedication, and starting a life together. Having a great photographer is the most important part of
remembering and cherishing this special day.

Unfortunately, our budget doesn’t allow for us to be extravagant. With college loans to pay (for both of
us!) it is increasingly difficult to come across “extra” money. In doing so, we are not sure what we will do
for the venue… we are looking at a nice country club. With this opportunity, we may be able to afford
my dream wedding at the country club. It has a gazebo in front of a large pond for the ceremony, a
covered bridge, and flowered landscaping for beautiful photographs that I want to cherish forever. We
have an idea of the date, and if we do win the photography package, we will cater to available dates
around that time.

As a young couple trying to begin our lives together, I hope to have to a little indulgence on the most
important day of our lives. Our family is small, also without much ability to fund our event, and we just
want to celebrate with everyone we love. As something old, I stand by tradition and want to be married
before starting my family. For new, it is the beginning of our journey together. Something borrowed…
well I’m borrowing my mother’s wedding dress for the occasion! And blue… well, we’ll be blue without
having a professional photographer to create the memories that will last us our lifetime.

Thank you for the opportunity to tell our story – whether we win or not, we will enjoy our new life
together!
