Yearly Archives: 2008

Happy Holidays!

xmas2009Happy holidays, everyone!

Each holiday season I successfully photograph many family and children portraits.   But when it comes to my own family card, it becomes one of the most difficult challenges of the year. Not only do I have the pressure of having to out do the previous year, but my angel, Hayden, suddenly turns into the anti-photo child.  This year my wife thought that since Hayden enjoyed being a knight for Halloween, we could easily get him to wear the same costume for our Christmas card. We live near the Cloisters so the theme was there for the taking!  When the day came to do the photograph, the costume was suddenly very itchy; apparently beyond wearable, though he did wear it for hours on Halloween.  In hindsight maybe all the sugar had some kind of numbing effect.  After many attempts at gentle persuasion, bribery, tears and then coercion, we mange to pull off another card. Yeah!

2008 was a wonderful year – I was able to experience new traditions and I enjoyed being a part of each of my client’s families for a day. To experience so much joy is uplifting. I am truly thankful and blessed.

Next year, I will be making some changes- I will have an updated website with a new brand identity, offer new products, and my services will include the addition of associate photographers. Also new for 2009,  I will run various contests and promotions throughout the year. My first contest will launch on January 1st and I will be giving away one free full day of photography to one lucky couple – be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity and be sure to let any of your friends know about this.

My calendar is staring to fill, be sure to drop me an e-mail or set up an appointment early next year.

I wish everyone the best this season holiday season!

Peace and happiness,

Chris Leary

Connie & Sean’s Wedding Slideshow

Connie and Sean were married on November 2, 2008 up in Cold Spring, NY at a quaint chapel called Our Lady of Restoration. The chapel sits on a cliff at the edge of the Hudson River, a scenic setting for a wedding celebration. We then headed a few miles down the river to the Plum Bush Inn for a wonderful fall reception. I will be posting all the pictures to Pictage soon, sign up at http://www.pictage.com/558594 to see all the photos.

Congratulations Connie & Sean!

Marianna & Troy’s Wedding Slideshow

It’s true, I was a Greek Orthodox wedding virgin, but thanks to Marianna and Troy, I can officially say- Opa! BTW, I had no idea what opa meant (but everyone shouted it out constantly through out the night) so I decided to Google the word “Opa” to see what comes up.  One meaning said “a word that Greek people use for no apparent reason at all” – but I knew it couldn’t be that so I looked further and found,  “a word used to describe excitement at a joyous event (that’s what you would think!) but on my last search I found – “Come on, be a man, take another shot of ouzo!”  That’s got to be it!!!

Marianna and Troy were married on October 26, 2008 at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (a really gorgeous church – incredible!) and held a festive celebration at NYC’s Tavern on the Green.

All the pictures will be available on Pictage soon, if you haven’t already done so, sign up to get on the notification list at http://www.pictage.com/451360

In the meantime, check out the slideshow below – congratulations Marianna & Troy! Opa!

Meredith & Verdi’s Wedding Slideshow

I am pleased to present another wedding slideshow! Meredith and Verdi were married on October 25, 2008 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Centerport, NY. The bride and groom exited the church, they got showered (more like pummeled!) with little white mints, and then jumped into a beautiful classic Rolls-Royce Limousine to head off to their reception at Flowerfield.

All the pictures will be available on Pictage soon, if you haven’t already done so, sign up to get on the notification list at http://www.pictage.com/449100

In the meantime, check out the slideshow below – congratulations Meredith & Verdi!
